Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 Holidays: Official Notification for Schools & Offices
The long-awaited announcement is here! The Federal Government of Pakistan, via the Cabinet Division, has officially released the holiday schedule for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.
This year is particularly special as the Eid festivities directly coincide with Pakistan Day (March 23), creating a unified long weekend for students, teachers, and office-goers across the country.
📅 Official Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 Holiday Schedule
According to the federal notification, public and private sectors will observe a three-day break. However, because of the weekend and additional school breaks, the actual time off may vary.
| Holiday Name | Date | Day | Status |
| Eid-ul-Fitr (Day 1) | March 21, 2026 | Saturday | Gazetted Holiday |
| Eid-ul-Fitr (Day 2) | March 22, 2026 | Sunday | Gazetted Holiday |
| Eid-ul-Fitr (Day 3) / Pakistan Day | March 23, 2026 | Monday | National Holiday |
Important Note: Since March 23 (Pakistan Day) falls on the third day of Eid, there is no "extra" day off, but it ensures a solid three-day weekend for everyone.
🏫 Special Update for Schools & Colleges
While the official Eid holidays are from March 21–23, many educational institutions—especially in Islamabad and Punjab—are extending the break:
Islamabad Schools: Federal government schools have notified a Spring Break from March 24 to March 27, effectively giving students an 11-day stretch of holidays (including weekends) starting from the evening of March 20.
Punjab Schools: Private and public schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, March 24, unless otherwise notified by their respective district authorities.
Sindh Update: The Sindh government has also declared Friday, March 13 as a public holiday for Jummatul Wida, giving a head start to the festive season.
🏛️ Impact on Offices and Banks
Government Offices: Will remain strictly closed from Saturday (March 21) to Monday (March 23).
Banks: Will be closed for public dealing during the three-day Eid period. It is advised to complete your ATM withdrawals and banking tasks by Friday, March 20.
Private Sector: Most private companies in Pakistan follow the federal gazette and will resume operations on March 24.
🌙 Moon Sighting & Final Confirmation
While the notification is based on astronomical forecasts by Suparco (predicting a 30-day Ramadan), the final dates are subject to the official announcement by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on the evening of March 20.
